How to rock a boring formal shirt at work
How you guys doing this fine Saturday. While all of you are chilling in your homes, I am here at work. Yes, guys, life is tough.
While I am at work, I also thought of sharing a workwear look with you guys coz lot of you have been asking for more posts on workwear.
So here is a look that I created from that basic formal shirt that we all have in our wardrobes but hate to wear.
So, this is my over-sized shirt which like you had been stored at the back of my closet. I absolutely love this shirt. I love its satiny texture and how corporate it is. Also, this is the shirt that my Mom got me for my first interview. So, over the time I grew too small for this shirt making it look like a boyfriend shirt. Another reason that I seldom wear it is that it felt too formal which is what boring means in our dictionary.
So to make it look smarter and chic, all I did was pull up the sleeves just till my elbow. Yes, only this much and it worked. Mind you, I just pulled up the sleeves and not fold it. So that the cuffs are visible. Somehow, I feel folding up the sleeves makes it more casual and here we want to keep the workwear feel intact.
Next up I paired it with a black pencil skirt. I have mentioned it earlier and mentioning it again. A black pencil skirt is a must-have in every wardrobe. Just look at how it looks so sexy, chic and yet so formal. Also, those who shy away from wearing a skirt can go for longer lengths like I have.
Also, you can wear your skirt anywhere on your waist. You could wear it high waisted starting right below your chest to mid waist. No, you cannot really wear a long pencil skirt low-waisted. It has to cinch around your waist and accentuate your hips below.
Add a pair of stylish glasses and a classy watch to the look to show the world that you mean business.
And yes, those heels are necessary. When it comes to corporate styling, always trust your black or nude pumps. You could never go wrong with them.
Hope you liked this look and would take cues from it when you to work the next time. Don’t forget to tag me if you do.
Do let me know what you would like me to post next.
